  • SATA start/stop count

I have 3 Seagate hard drives; 2 IDE drives (Master & Slave) and 1 SATA drive. Master drive start/stop count is 13, Slave's 0 and SATA's 186. Why that SATA drive count is so high & what makes it?

This number should represent the number of start/stop cycles for the drive. The raw value indicates the count of start/stop cycles for the drive. The drive being powered on/off or suspended/woken up are considered as start/stop cycles. So the value of 186 sounds normal. The value of 0 doesn't sound normal.
But you really need to check with Seagate as to exactly when they increment these numbers for the drive models in question.
