  • Hardware compatible with PCIe 3.0 SSD

I would like to buy a processor + mobo set especially for web development, therefore it should be compatible with PCIe 3.0 SSD. I would be glad if you could help me to clarify which architectures support it and share some recommendations.

I was thinking about LGA 2011 v3 and LGA 1151 as both seem to have PCI 3.0 support, but I've read some articles saying that Skylake (LGA 1151) processors are first to support SSDs with PCIe 3.0. Is that true?

LGA 2011 seemed very good choice for me as Xeon processors like E5-2665 are really cheap on secondhand (80$, though mobos are quite expensive).

Could you share some recommendations for such a processor + mobo set? I would like to spend 200-350$ on it.

All new motherboards would now support PCIe 3.0.
But what you really want is a motherboard with a PCIe 3.0. M.2. slot. (which is still the majority of new MBs)
