Release of BurnInTest version 3.1

PassMark Software is pleased to announce the release of BurnInTest version 3.1. This is a free upgrade for all users of BurnInTest release 3.0 but it does require a new license key. The new version of both the Professional and Standard editions can be downloaded from the PassMark web site.

Major new features in this version include,

• A new parallel port device driver for more reliable parallel port testing
• A new sound test which allows loopback testing with the use of an audio loopback cable
• DirectX 8 is now used instead of the older DirectX 3. This should give much better compatibility with new video cards (but stops BurnInTest working on Windows NT and 95)
• The introduction of a basic scripting language.
• Disk transfer rates are now reported in the disk test window

We have also expanded our range of hardware that works with BurnInTest Professional. In addition to the existing Serial, Parallel & USB loopback plugs, we are now also selling audio loop back cables and test CD / DVDs. All these devices can be ordered separately.

Finally, we opened our new users forum today.

We plan to use this moderated forum to provide product support and discuss issues related to benchmarking & hardware testing. I hope to see some of you there.
