Default Need help badly about sound card sampling

Would you PLEASE tell me the amount of ram needed to store 4 seconds of stereo sound on a sound card with 44KHz sampling rate would it be

A) 180 Kbytes
B) 704 Kbytes
C) 440 Kbytes
D) 512 Kbytes

I would really appreciate your help,Thanking you kazz.....................

I am so confused please please please help...

It is not possible to answer this question without knowing the sampling resolution. Each sample could be converted into either 8,16 or 24bits. The question is incomplete without this information.

You might want to mention that to your teacher

Also, we don't do homework.

Well if your were using Pulse-code modulation (PCM) encoding it would be,

44,000 sample per chanel per second
X
2 stereo channels
X
4 sec
x
16 bits per sample

= 5632000 bits

Divided by 8 bits per byte

= 704000 bytes

1 KB is normally 1024 bytes so this would mean the answer is

E) 687.5 KB

If you were not using PCM encoding (for example you were using MP3), then the result would be very different.
