Testing USB drive

Hi,

I just downloaded the latest burn-in test linux x window version and tested out some of my USB drives. The software is able to identify the drive correctly and testes could be completed.

However, the speed of the U-drive access is so fast that it gives me the impression that it is actually testing linux's driver buffer instead of the U drive itself. Is there anyway to turn off the buffer cache (and the inode cache) during testing?

How big is the USB drive and how much RAM is in your PC.

Normally the size of hard drives far exceed available RAM so the cache doesn't have any impact on the test.

However is your drive is like, 512MB and you have 4GB of free RAM, then I agree maybe the I/O accesses are being cached.

And I thought U-Drive was a car rental company?

I have 2G byte of RAMs and my USB drives are either 256M bytes or 512M bytes. If this is really the case, is there any solution to it?

By the way, U-drive is just my short form of USB-Drive. Sorry about the confusiion.
