Hi. I'm looking to test an CD-RW or DVD-RW optical drive with passmark. What I'd like to do is plop in media and have the software write and read for several days. Is this something that is possible on windows AND on linux? Thanks.

In the curreent software release, we have cyclic CD burning test in BurnInTest for Windows.
But no DVD burning test in Windows. Nor any CD/DVD burning function in the Linux version. |

So, does this just do a CRC test? Where can I find more information on the CD burning test that's conducted? I'm guessing that it does no writes to the media. Thanks.

There are detailed descriptions of the tests in the Windows BurnInTest Users Guide.
There are test options for reading and writing CD's, reading arbitrary DVD's, reading specially made test DVD's, playback of music CD's, test multiple drives at the same time, and many other options. |
