Question DiskCheckup Not showing all drives

I had DiskCheckup Version 2.1. Because it always shows a red (-) icon on all SATA and USB drives, I upgraded to current version 3.1.

Now I discover that SATA drives are not displayed, only IDE. Likewise, USB external IDE hard drives are not showing.

Is this "working as intended", or is there perhaps an issue with older motherboards?

Am I missing some newer information regarding USB attached or SATA?

    Suggestions?

Most but not all USB connected drives are supported. It depends on the 'bridge' chip used to convert between USB and IDE.

How are the SATA drives connected on your system? RAID controllers aren't supported, even if you aren't running in RAID.

I too am running DiskCheckup 3.1 (build 1001) and it's not detecting ANY of the four SATA drives in my computer. They are connected directly to the motherboard (Gigabyte N650SLI-DS4L). It's a RAID-capable board, but RAID is not enabled.

By comparison, Acronis Drive Monitor detects all four drives, but its capabilities are way below what DiskCheckup can potentially offer.

    Any ideas?

I think there are two RAID settings for this MB. One for the controller and one for each port. What model drives do you have connected?

There are indeed two settings for the RAID on this motherboard. RAID is now disabled at the controller level and also for each individual port. Still no drives detected.

The drives which are connected are:
    Seagate ST380815 AS
    Seagate ST350064 1AS
    Maxtor TM3250310AS
    Hitachi HDS721050CLA

    Thanks.

Can you run DiskCheckup in debug mode and send us the log,

To do this you need to use the '-d' command line argument
(Debug mode is off by default).

Looks like the device driver had rejected the request to collect the data.

Can you have a look in Windows Device manager and see what drivers are in use for the ATA Channels and the Disk drives. Are they the Microsoft drivers?

    Disk
    c:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\disk.sys
    c:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\partmgr.sys

    ATA Channels
    c:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\atapi.sys
    c:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\ataport.sys

Yes, the four which you list specifically are all Microsoft drivers. I looked directly at the properties of each individual driver.

However, in Device Manager, there are also NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA Controller drivers listed. The listed driver is:

    c:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\nvstor32.sys

As far as I can tell it's this driver which is being used for all four drives.

Are you in AHCI mode in BIOS?
I did some Goggling and it looks like the nVidia drivers have a problem when in AHCI mode (instead of IDE mode) on Win7.
