Well, how are we supposed to use that feature? I know not a single mail server that will accept and relay anything without authentication. All the server answer is "Unrecognized command".
Or maybe this is a joke I'm not getting.![]()

Although less common now, there were a lot of POP3 Authenticated SMTP gateways.
Meaning that you authenticate once using POP3, then the gateway remains open for hours / days for your IP address. And there no need to authenticatewith SMTP for sending E-mail.
Plus there are internal gateways (on a intranet) which may be open.
But clearly we need to support at least the common SMTP authentication options in a future release.
Sounds good. One other thing, since 3.0 a lot of information is being written to DiskCheckupLog.txt which almost looks like a debug file. It just keeps growing and growing so I had to make it write protected. But clearly we need to support at least the common SMTP authentication options in a future release.
We have just released build 1003, and now we support SMTP authentication with a user name and password.
Logging is now only done when the -d command line options is used.
No luck, it seems the server requires SSL connections. It fails saying: "Must issue a STARTTLS command first".
I have no other email servers I could send mails from.

Starting DiskCheckup with the CHECKTEC command line will leave the tray icon behind as a ghost. This doesn't happen when the program is closed manually.

EMail encryption is harder to implement. Probably take us a few days to do and test if we did it. But we have other higher priorities at the moment.
No need to hurry, I will gladly wait for such a feature. Not sure if it was after updating from build 1001 to 1002 or to 2003 but the "Record SMART attributes for TEC computation" was unchecked in 2003. I did check it again and DiskCheckup is recording the values.
