    Default Test coverage

    Hello,

I'm using BurnInTest 6 Std CPU, memory and hard disk tests with standard preferences on an industrial PC. I've been asked to estimate what the %age hardware test coverage is (assuming a fairly standard Intel CPU and motherboard).

Would this configuration test the various PCI buses indirectly? Is there any value in testing 2D or 3D graphics to increase test coverage, given that the machine is headless? I'm not interested in testing the soundcard, optical drive, or network/USB/Com/parallel ports.

    Thanks

If you are testing the hard disk then you are also indirectly testing the IDE /SATA bus to the drive and the northbridge bus.

It is hard to work out a % coverage. As what % do you assign to each component.

Is a serial port worth the same percentage as a CPU? Are the RAM sticks worth the same as the 4th (unsed) SATA port, etc..
