    Question SMART DLL error

    Hello ,

    I have a system with below configuration

    Microsoft Windows XP Professional ( Service Pack 3 )

    Disk Interface Type:IDE

    BIOSell.

    I 'm getting Error while retreiveing SMART informatiion through smart DLL provide by you:

    Error:"Call to SmartDll_Init() get Failed."

    Maybe your hard drive doesn't support SMART.

    We have only got the information that through the DLL which has been provide by you :

    'SCSI' and 'Raid' Disk interface type will not monitored by the S.M.A.R.T feature and 'IDE' and 'SATA' Disk interface type which is monitored for S.M.A.R.T feature .
    And this machine has Disk interface type:IDE.

    Operating : System Microsoft Windows XP Professional ( Service Pack 3 )

    Processor Type: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7250 @ 2.00GHz
    Disk Manufacturer/Model: FUJITSU MHZ2120BH G2
    BIOS Name: Phoenix ROM BIOS PLUS Version 1.10 A13
    BIOS Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
    BaseBoardManufacturer: Dell Inc.

    What version of the DLL are you using? Are you running as Admin? What code are you using to call the DLL?
    Just becuase you are using an IDE interface, it doesn't mean the drive itself supports SMART (nor your BIOS for that matter). But I think the Fujitsu does.

    I have client with 40 machine on ALL the machine SMART is enabled and working fine ..except one machine for whci i had given u the above Configuration.

    Also the only difference of this machine configuration from rest of the machine is

    Disk Manufacturer/Model: FUJITSU MHZ2120BH G2.

    Contact Fujitsu or visit their web site if you want the specs for a Fujitsu drive. Failing that try Google.

    If you still have a problem with the DLL, then to start with you answer the questions we asked above.
