    Default hd & OverClocking

hi all , please try to answer all the paragrafs described below
i've downloaded passmark then tested my pc
then i ran easy tune that comes with my Gigabyte
and overclocked my system ... now usually every part scored better
but only the h.d test showd reduced (73% less!!!!)
score from first test before overclocking and after .

1 ) so i was wondering maybe overclocking is doing allright with bus
(cpu mem agp) but bad for the drive ???

    Rig:
    2400+ athlon
    2 X 256 DDR400Mhz
GeeforceII 64m sdram (not so much)
    gigabyte GA..somthing
    80g + 8mb cashe (wd800jb) western digital 7200RPM

    2) the max overcloking that survived (didn't halt)
is 10% on top-of normal speed ... cpu is about 2260-2290Mhz instead of 1990 of normal speed
which is 147mhz bus speed instead of 133mhz
is that all u can get through over clocking
    (that's stays around without halts)???
max speed tested>> scored around 220-230 points in over all test
    (after overclocking !!!)

please tell me all u know

    thanks in advance

In general we don't recommend overclocking. Computer are unreliable enough without pushing them beyond their design limitations. Not to mention the possible voiding of your warranty.

The disk performance is affected by many factors. However is it unlikely that it is the overclocking that lowered the result on the 2nd run. More likely it was just differences in the size and content of the cache. Or some background task in Windows that accessed the disk and interfered with the 2nd test run.

It would have been interesting if you have posted the actual results and repeated the test several times (at normal clocking and overclocked) to see how the result varied.

    Default Test resolts

    hi david
i've had an opportunity to upgrade my cpu to athlon 2700+
    cost me 15 $ + vat ...
    cheep ...
anyways you were right i've ghosted a [OS] pre installation that was
good enough (clean) and it made the change regarding the H.D mark ,there were good results

here are the scores from before and after overClocking
a small change if u do the math 175/166=1.054
means 5.4% over normal setting... lets check the cpu results same way
413/392=1.0535 about the exact change modified

    CPU 392@166Mhz ; 413@175Mhz

    2D 71.9@166Mhz ; 73.4@175Mhz

    Memory 304.7@166Mhz ; 322.2@175Mhz

    Disk 243.6@166Mhz ; 250.1@175Mhz

    CD 108@166Mhz ; 119.3@175Mhz

    3D 98.8@166Mhz ; 99.9@175Mhz

    over all mark

    241.2@166Mhz ; 252.2@175Mhz

not so much of overclocking but a small and safe one
    good-fast & stable over-all behavior
    thanks for your time ...
