sleeper/rebooter timeout?

I have a failry technical question about the sleeper & rebooter utilities...

How exactly do you configure the system to reboot itself after some interval of time? I assume you are using the RTC, are you accessing it via a standard windowsAPI or do you bypass the OS and touch hardware directly?

There is no bypasing of the O/S.
