I have a desktop that has a configuration as follows:
intel celeron 2.7 GHz / 768 MB DDR333 PC2700 / Radeon 9250 256 MB (dedicated memory) / 95 GB HHD

a laptop built by Frys Elec.
intel celeron 2.4 GHz / 512 MB DDR 333 PC 2700 / Sis (shared memory) 32 MB. It means the main memory is now 480 MB / 30 GB HHD

both runs Windows XP Pro

I ran the performance test on both machines and the result surprises me

laptop: 311
desktop: 271

Is it possible? why the laptop with less power performs better than a desktop?

Any advices is appreciated!
Paul

There could be many reasons. You really need to compare the individual results to see where all the difference was.

For example, if all the difference was in the hard disk result then maybe your desktop has a really fragmented hardisk.

If you post the results that vary the most we might be able to comment more.
