Hello:

I recently changed my WD hard disk drive from a 500GB IDE to a 500GB SATA but I think something's wrong with this new drive as Windows XP performance is very low.

Windows startup is very very slow and basic operations make the disk spin and spin.

I was looking at all the graphs but I don't understand quite well what they mean.

My Western Digital hard disk drive model is WDC5000AACS, 500GB, SATA.

Here are the results from the test:

Disk-Sequential Read = 86.5 range 0-90
Disk-Sequential Write = 83.2 range 0-90
Disk-Random Seek+RW = 2.56 range 0-10
Disk Mark (This computer) = 623.0 range 0-70
PassMark Rating (This computer-partial results) = 124.6 range 0-200

The "List of Hard Drives" table gives me the following results for this particular model:

Drive Rating 428
Rank 203

Can someone help me with these results?

Thanks,
Roberto

Your results are OK. 86 & 83MB/sec for read / write speeds is what I would expect. Or even slightly better than I would expect.

So the problem might be elsewhere.
