I'm comparing some servers... and in virtually every instance of the advanced test 1 server has significantly better performance than the others. When using the basic disk test however, it is significantly slower.

Can someone please tell me the settings used for the default "basic" disk test? I found this info on the forum in another thread, but based on the date I would guess it was for one of the older versions.

"You might try the equivalent test settings in the Advanced disk test to see what it tells you about the speed during the test intervals. The settings equivalent to the Standard disk read test are:

Test file directory: User AppData
Test file 500MB
Block size 16KB
Standard Win32 API (Uncached)
Asynchonous
IO queue length of 20
Test duration: 20 seconds
Read/Write level: 100% reading, 0% writing
Sequential/Random level: 100% sequential, 0% random"

Thanks!

All Standard Tests:
Block Size: 16384 Bytes
Standard Win32 API (Uncached)
Asynchronous
IO Len: 20

Read Test:
File Size: 512 MB
100% Read
100% Sequential

Write Test:
File Size: 200 MB
100% Write
100% Sequential

Random Test:
File Size: 200 MB
50/50 Read/Write
100% Random

Notes:
On compressed volumes the sizes will be increased to 1.5x available memory or 3GB, whichever is smaller, in an attempt to avoid caching issues.
Test duration can vary depending on preferences however the minimum is 20 seconds.
