intel or amd?

hello
i m having a nvidia 8800GT 512mb with 2GB RAM DDR2-800 and i m planing to buy a proccesor but i dont know what is better for me. i d like to say that my main use of pc is playing games, newest ones mostly.
what do you think is more suitable for me?
1) Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (2.4GHz)
or
2)AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000 (3.0GHz)

Looking at the CPU benchmarks (http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html) I would take the Intel chip, unless the AMD chip was a bit cheaper and cost was important. Sure most games don't use 4 cores at the moment, but they will in a few years.

Even when only using 2 cores the Intel chips should offer equal or better performance.
